Lots of new users so just want to post a reminder that using alt text is good not only because it makes the site more accessible, but it also makes your posts more discoverable. Alt text will help your posts show up in search results & get picked up by feeds, which means more eyeballs on your posts
Also it gives you LOTS MORE ROOM to write stuff. Describe the image... And then write more stuff. See: any of my images for an example of what I mean. Like this one: bsky.app/profile/mary...
When I added alt-text to an image it wouldn't post. It posted w/o alt-text, so I added the description in a comment.
Also remember YOU CAN TELL BSKY TO FORCE YOU TO WRITE ALT TEXT. It’s in the settings under Accessibility.
And because a pretty large number of people here refuse to share posts with undescribed images.
