Why 70s trad isn't valuable: "Because the "neotraditional" stuff is still seen as U-G-L-Y by most people because it was the reaction against the modernist stuff that people appreciate more. The cultural memory of smoke-filled front rooms w/ your Aunt offering stale cookies casts a long shadow" 🤣
Used (normal wear), 1970’s Broyhill Bedroom set. Plastic veneer Dresser w/mirror and brackets, Chester drawers and headboard. Has wear n tear. $150 OBO. Make an offer!;
Ah ah , touché ! Also I guess* that's mostly industrially produced furniture, so not exactly valuable or charming to begin with. *can't access the page if you're not in the US
On the other hand. they don’t make quality plastic veneer like that anymore…
(This was me putting on my Industrial Designer hat explaining why her Broyhill 70's armoire was just $100 compared to the $5600 for their MCM "Brasilia" line made at the same time.) I honestly could see these Baroque things coming back as anchor pieces in a room if done carefully. Not my style tho
