The Princess and the Frog took a German tale and had it take place in 1920s New Orleans - WE CAN DO IT AGAIN! Imagine a Little Mermaid retelling but based on the jengu and taking place in West Africa. Korean Snow White but with TONS of court intrigue. SO MUCH POTENTIAL!
The exception is, of course, the 2015 Cinderella, lol. (Before I get ppl in the replies complaining about Halle Bailey... she was a great Ariel in spite of the movie, and quite frankly she deserved better overall)
You know what breaks my heart about the Disney live-actions the most? It's that they could be *so* good, go out of the mold and retell the tale from a different angle, or transport you in a different setting... But (almost) every single time, it's always the most BASIC take.
