The wording of this bit feels quite odd to me: 'Bianco also said the FBI is questioning another man after bomb-detecting dogs “repeatedly” identified him as possibly dangerous.' So no humans were involved in the decision making process? The dogs were indicating presence of a smell, not danger.

I visited Gurdwaras regularly with a group as a child and they would not have batted an eyelid. They did everything possible to make us feel welcome and fed us every time.

I’m not sure how I’d even begin to suggest such a thing. Let alone as a medical procedure.

Ah, so now we know where the bass drum solo is supposed to be used in the Horst-Wessel-Lied?

As someone who lives in a different part of the world, using the term “nativist” seems a concession in itself, when what they mean is xenophobic or just plain racist.

The first scene is of a brutal beating. We were sitting towards the back of the auditorium, and for 15 minutes there was just a stream of couples looking upset, getting up, and leaving. 2/2

It is reminding me of a cinema visit on the Saturday night when The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover was first released. Clearly a lot of people were using it as a date movie, and had not read any reviews. 1/2

For obvious reasons he rarely spoke about it when I was a child. However I do remember him being “tired and emotional“ at one point and expressing his regret that he’d not been able to help more of them to survive.

I’m reading a biography of my great uncle at the moment. He was an RAF intelligence officer for a squadron of fighter pilots during the Battle of Britain. The sheer number of friends & colleagues he saw die must have been traumatising.
