It’s okay Orioles, we’ll try again tomorrow.

There are a lot of different factors to the “why can’t the kids read?” discussion. But I just feel the need to mention that this year my school district took away the website English teachers were using to access literature, and also gave them no money to buy books.

I can’t decide what kind of stress I want to have this evening. VP debate stress, Orioles stress, or RHONY premiere stress? So many choices!

I literally tell my students I cannot POSSIBLY teach you everything that has ever happened in history in our 180 (minus like 30 for testing and other nonsense) days together. I’m teaching you to read and think and be curious and have the tools to go learn more without me.

I’m really sad about how broken the Spotify algorithm is. Every single playlist is the same no matter what highly specific name it has. Why did they just put Third Eye Blind on my “emo hits of the 2000s” playlist? Why are the Cranberries on EVERY playlist?

Per usual I have nothing terribly insightful or deeply meaningful to say about a movie I enjoyed, but Will & Harper was just lovely.

The best thing about teaching middle school is that the more kids change, the more they stay the same (someone will always open a textbook and find a drawing of something phallic from a previous year). God bless the inventor of white out.
