I generally assume every decision made by Starmer and Reeves has an ulterior motive, but I can also legitimately see them being conned by some Davos Snake-oil Oil Snake into believing that CC works. They both seem to be convinced that austerity works after all.

We have great carbon capture tech. They are called planting trees. We could cross breed them or even genetic engineering to improve the efficiency, but planting trees is our best carbon capture tech right now.
