Someday the pendulum *has* to swing back in the direction of the one-page syllabus, right? Just hand every student a phonebook-sized hard copy of all the boilerplate with their initial registration and say "these apply to every course," then let the syllabus just be a syllabus.

The boilerplate only lives on my online course canvas page now under ‘Course Administration’. The syllabus is back to its lean structure.

My school has done this. There's a webpage with university policies you can link to in your syllabus. Not down to 1 but back to 5 or 6 from, like, 14

I split my syllabus into 3 pdfs: Syllabus-Core, Syllabus-Policies, and Syllabus-Resources: all three together are the syllabus. Only the "core" changed from class to class. I also think the grouping made it easier for students to approach.

But where will I put all the LEARNING OBJECTIVES?

We largely don't even bother with that much any more, and none of it's hard copy either.

I am handing out a summary of the syllabus on one page and making the rest online only.
