A very large proportion of government jobs were set aside for veterans and their family members of the 1970 war. I think it’s in the Guardian article I linked.
Ah thanks for the quick summary and explanation. So essentially a bunch of well paying, stable, politically influential jobs have been reserved for specific families, essentially creating two different social classes.
