I am going to be so insufferable when I don't have two children to manage. They're only gone for an evening so far, and I'm here. I can't be elsewhere, because COVID & LOOK HOW MUCH I am posting. Imagine once they graduate. Imagine once I retire. If only my adhd brain would be productive.

Feeling bad that my kids just went to band camp where they have to march, out of doors. At least they'll be on the peninsula, which is ?maybe? better. Having memories of the year we took them to fall encamporee and then had to send half the troop home

The other half of me laid in bed awake last night (having slept for hours yesterday afternoon unexpectedly) coming up with new and fun trips to do (NYC for Christmas! Can we go back to Guemes Island in Dec? What about Halloween in my hometown in Illinois? North Carolina is cool!). Because I'm bored.

Some of my #extrovertproblems are because I've been cooped up since last week when my youngest tested + for COVID. I did next, then my husband. Only the oldest has escaped the domino effect (or were they they first and we just didn't know?) Half of me is like "Never travel again!" (I blame Sweden!)

But like... I'm always the only one who follows through on shit like that. There's, like, five people in Seattle I can count on to actually commit to things and follow through on them. Which is fine. I don't need much. I'd like more. I like all of these families! I just... fucking Seattle, man.

2/3 of the families are busy. The other one hasn't responded. These are all folks we knew from elementary or outside of school, and my kid's not even going to HS with them. One of them reached out and was like "hey, we should get together - tell us all the (high school) knowledge!" #seattlefreeze

I mean to do this during the summer - have a little get to know you for the families whose kids would be coming in a bit on the fringes. Picked the easiest possible time - Sunday afternoon. No one's got stuff Sunday afternoon in Seattle. It's why I put all my GS meetings then. So, want to guess?

Oh, speaking of things I've been turned down for: This week, I emailed three families who have kids going to the high school that my oldest is at (& younger would be at if she weren't so *precious* about her schooling) because their kids aren't coming from the normal middle school that feeds in...

Seriously, I really wish I was less extroverted. It's *hard* in this city. Anyway, I can go alone. That's fine. I would just like to nerd out with someone, and ye olde husband is completely uninterested. Which is fine. At least I've got a friend to go see Väsen/Hawktail/Aoife O'Donavan with!
