i honestly think a condition of getting the tax write off ought to be that the item is released into the public domain
Zaslav really went and killed a James Gunn-written Looney Tunes movie that was already finished, testing great, AND had interested buyers if WB didn't want it for themselves deadline.com/2023/11/coyo...
Warner Bros has completely shelved finished movie 'Coyote vs. Acme' to take $30M tax write-off. The Looney Tunes animated live action movie won't be released
Zaslav is one of the few people I can think of whose painful demise is something I spend large amounts of time thinking about. Hoping he gets Alzparkinseimers
Still waiting on Once Upon a Time in Shaolin.
People are gonna go wild when he does the same thing to Joker.
I have also been thinking this same thing.
I feel as if Discovery is going bankrupt soon. This just doesn't make any sense otherwise.
Agreed, though that still leaves the cast and crew getting shafted of residuals
The tax write-off is worth less than profits from a movie! This is basic checkbook balancing. It is always better to make money than to lose money unless Zaslav wants WBD itself to tank in value so he can take it private on the cheap? It's weird!
They shouldn’t be able to take the tax write off for a shelves movie at all. We need that law yesterday.
I feel like Zaslav doesn’t fundamentally understand the concept of entertainment and sees all of cinema/TV as types of visual slurry people use to kill time. The idea of something like rewatching Casablanca is completely alien to him, and that’s why he has no problem making these decisions.
