watching this hbo documentary on the horrorshow that was nickelodeon and will reiterate my position that child acting should be regulated out of existence if not made illegal outright
Name?
How Dan Schneider has not been tossed under a jail or shamed into nothing more than white hot dust is flabbergasting.
I'm watching it now and I can't. This is vile.
That the one about how the head dude was obsessed with kids' feet? And then you can't unsee all the barefoot tweens in literally everything they produced for a decade???
Feels like you could count the number of child actors who *weren’t* wrecked by the experience on one hand. Child labor laws exist for a reason
Honestly children in media should be aged up, and child actors allowed to make fun programming that other kids would like in a school environment. Not a capitalism destroyer of souls.
Maya Erskine was almost 30 when she played a high school freshman in Pen15
Make a meme: those tiny children dressed up for work in the coal mines, sooty, along with Shirley Temple and Jackie Coogan.
By most measures it already is heavily regulated, with strict hours and studio teachers, etc, but there's a lot more we can do for sure.
Listen just cast Ralph Fiennes as ever prepubescent boy and tell me the show isn’t better already
