One of the little Actually True conspiracies is that there is a conspiracy of quiet, soft support amongst elite academics for eugenics and race science. Pinker is the most prominent example, but Dawkins, Dennett and Harris fit this camp too. Note none of them have expertise, just hope it's real.

Virginia had the last government run eugenics program in America, and it only shut down in 1980. The federal government ran one for Native Americans that ran well into the '70s. There are victims of forced sterilization still alive.
