If fact checking is a liberal political strategy to win elections, the media has failed at every turn to do their job. Holding politicians accountable is a tenement of Democracy. If one party is 80% truthful & the other is 10%, it’s not the medias job to bend to the will of the latter.

Fact-checking is only relevant (regardless of whether it "works" or not) When everyone agrees there are such things as facts. In an autocracy, facts are irrelevant, only belief matters.
