Hello bluesky, it's been a while. I small update about some of the work I've been doing, for those interested. 🐡

I am very pleased to announce that I am now working with Little Ray's Exhibitions as sculptor and fabricator. A large part of my role is making wildlife exhibits more accessible to the blind and visually impaired, by making accurate tactile models to be placed alongside their corresponding live specimens on display.

These models emphasise accuracy of form and texture, so those who rely on touch can get a sense for the size, shape and surfaces of the beautiful creatures behind the glass.

The models are given a colour wash before display also, in order to increase contrast. This can help people who may not be blind but have low vision to percieve the forms better.

I'm looking forward to working with the people who find these models helpful- improving and evolving techniques as we apply them to other existing and future exhibits.

Soon I'll share some of the 10 pieces made for this project so far!
A child touching a lifesize gila monster model. Enclosure with live specimen is behind the model.
A child touching a lifesize green tree python model. Enclosure with live specimen is behind the model.
A child touching a lifesize green iguana model. Enclosure with live specimen is to the left of the model.
