I think this can't be correct. Normal, well-adjusted people ignore, mute, or block people they find annoying. This isn't what's happening.

Well, it is twitter. How many normal, well adjusted people are left? Anyways, just because the reaction is bad doesn't mean annoyance can't be the cause for everyone who isn't well adjusted.
