I have very little interest in buying a domain from y'all (but I'm sure it's speaking for some segment!), but I like blue sky, and if there was just a "give us 5-10 dollars a month so we never have to run ads or over leverage in VC funding and can pay staff/mods" option, I would sign up today.

This model never works. People simply don't pay for services unless they really have to. It might be fine for an extremely popular influencer to get $30k monthly, but not for a company with many engineers and team members.
