Fucking hell, Robert Crumb's alive? There's a man who I could only see making it to about 2003 at the latest. That's a Wikipedia page that should close with "Objections to the Iraq war." Anyway, long life to him.

There were some great PS2 film tie ins and I think it's well past time we added a playable Train Pulling Into Station to the list.

Oh man. Yes. That's so perfect. He could have gone MAGA but this is much more satisfying

Miss him, miss him. I remember walking into work on the Monday after I got the LPs on me, my arm wrapped in see through plastic, and a young gamer guy on staff winked at me, I believe free of irony, and said "Ah, pokeballs. Very cool." Then nodded and went back to his screen.

All the SNL talk dredged this well worn anecdote to the front of my mental pile.

One day I was hanging out with some SNL writers and cast members in the 17th-floor conference room. It was shortly after the writers had won an Emmy Award for the 1988-89 season. Phil Hartman, who had been a writer as well as a cast member for the winning season, marched in with an 8-by-10 photo of himself. It showed him cradling his Emmy Award in one arm and his newborn child in the other. He tossed the photo down in front of his good friend Jon Lovitz and said, “Check it out, Lovitz—two things you’ll never have.

Revisiting those last two Dammersless Specials albums (they reward further inspection) and I'm pleased I recognised a song I'd never heard a version of before as written by Leonard Cohen by a single turn of phrase.

Listened to Thunderball by Ian Fleming on the commute today. The man found every obscure opportunity to find an outdated, outrageously racist term for the most innocuous scenery, character or plot points.

Johnny Carson, to a hammered Ed McMahon: You really think you're getting away with this, don't you?
