The thing is, the only reason I'm on a social media network and the only thing that brings me back to it is my ability to communicate to people I can make friends with. I can't do that on mastodon if everyone's fractured across different instances 🤷
Yeah, I feel there is a good idea to the core of it (technically being able to move all your connections made etc). But there is a lot of stuff that makes it overly complicated for the regular user, you’d have to spend a lot of time keeping tabs on it etc, so I don’t really see the appeal in it.
But hey, if it's not for you, it's not for you. I just see a lot of takes from folks who tried one server, one flavour of mastodon and didn't like it, but part of the beauty I suppose is being able to move and try another flavour ✌️
Oh I haven't found that at all really - I must follow people across a dozen instances, .art, .social etc, I can talk to them, see their posts in my timeline. I did experience the blocking issues when I was on .art, but as I say that doesn't happen on every server. It's def a personal preference
