again, today's the last day to try to opt out of facebook/instagram's AI bullshit. follow these instructions. If they refuse or something you can keep that email as proof when they inevitably get got for this deborahcopaken.substack.com/p/11-steps-t...

11 steps to keep Meta from stealing your data to train AI
11 steps to keep Meta from stealing your data to train AI

You only have until June 26, 2024 to say no to Meta taking your personal photos and words and using them to train their generative AI. Here are step-by-step directions for opting out.

lf you leave off the period at the end of the request statement the answer is one character short. I got the "too short" message, went back and added the period, and it worked.

I did it and got a response basically saying they review these based on the laws where you live. IE you aren't automatically opted out just by filling out the form.

Thanks, Jess!

"Hi, Thank you for contacting us. We don’t automatically fulfill requests and we review them consistent with your local laws. If you want to learn more about generative AI, and our privacy work in this new space, please review the information we have in Privacy Center. (Link) Thanks, "

I did everything and got this response 🫥

I tried but got nowhere. I'm just not longer sharing art on those sites. More than likely, everything has already been scrapped 😩

That was so frustrating. Many thanks to the hero who wrote out those instructions.

Thanks for that; what really ticks me off about this is I already went through this when they emailed me about Instagram; why do we have to do this on each site seperately when they're all in the same Meta dataset? I guess it's because if we forget on one of them, they can still try and use it.

The reply I got: “Hi, Thank you for contacting us. Based on the information that you have provided to us, we are unable to identify any examples of your personal information in a response from one of Meta’s generative AI models. As a result, we cannot take further action on your request.”

I did this, but FB never sent me the email with the six digit code. I tried three times, so look out for that. (Though I'm typing this coming up on midnight East Coast time, so it's probably too late anyway.)
