The argument of Lost Worlds, my new book, goes something like this. We have a particular story of how humanity went from being hunter-gatherers to city-dwelling subjects of states. The vast bulk of that process took place between about 11000 and 1000 BC, and the story is deeply flawed.

Eh, I wouldn't discount its utility. It's not the panacea the corporatists want it to be. But it certainly has been a benefit to me. Although you do have to use it with care. Relying on it to problem solve for you will quickly lead you astray.

My anecdotal take after a year of using Copilot: - Auto-completion of code == good - Looking up generalized, documented knowledge == great - Writing docstrings == amazing Asking it to problem solves == you're gonna have a bad time.

My mom lives in York PA and she wanted to put a Harris sticker on her car bumper. But she didn't want to antagonize her landlord who is a Trump supporter.

This one's from the heart. From 1980 to 2020, polls wildly miscalled the outcome five of eleven times, yet people have made following polls the center of their political lives. That is disturbing. prospect.org/politics/202...

The Polling Imperilment

Presidential polls are no more reliable than they were a century ago. So why do they consume our political lives?
