When you immigrate across the ocean, The privilege peels off like dead skin after unexpected sun exposure. A rather sad human right to witness family members getting old and dying suddenly becomes valuable like a treasure that’s too heavy to carry around on a wounded soul. #immigration#insight
This. Thank you for sharing! I used to work for a preservationist from NYC, who was focusing on preserving neighborhoods in Manhattan; he mentioned briefly he’s faced multiple life threats throughout his career. It’s a hard job. At least there’s still the Stahl House standing in LA…
I was more curious about the general application of historic preservation laws in California. If the building was preserved by the state and then demolished, than there should have been some complications for the owners.

That’s correct. It was older than 50 years old, had a cultural value, — a good candidate for being preserved.
