What do you see as shaming about it? I read the piece after reading your post above and thought the tone might be off, but all I’m seeing is basic reporting.

There are so many negative emotions swirling around attendance at the moment. I think that the scrutiny (of schools but also of parents) is incredibly shaming at present. And that's creating challenges for both parties. Research indicates strongly that disincentives will not help improve things.

Hi Jarlath. If you thought that the tone might be off, then I think that explains what I mean about being shamed (and being ashamed). It's incredibly shaming to have one's school named in the national press, especially when the mistake has already been rectified in all three cases.
