Like I'd bet money that 99.999% of people who watched the George Clooney one had no idea it was a remake because it's 1. like 2-3 generations later 2. completely different in tone and style

My view's probably skewed there, since I didn't know anyone who didn't know it was a remake at the time—I was in LA, and all my friends there were in film (or adjacent!). (Though there 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 also articles in popular magazines then that talked up the comparison of the "making of" for each version…) 🤔
