Repeat after me - self care is not a waste of time.
I comment to people that your tax money will be spent for housing & caring, might as well be facilities & docs / caregivers for recovery instead of prisons and guards to punish them. It just saddens that so many people choose revenge and retribution over rehab and redemption.
Doesn't public incarceration involve a lot of private contracting and services? Not as much of a $$ as private prison of course.
