Reporters seeking advancement at major corporate media organizations would not absorb, nor even read, a story like that.

Bunch is great, but this is exactly right. It’s not “maybe” they fear “offending and losing subscribers”. It’s that the incentive structure for any national or major metro paper produces news product that isn’t difficult to consume.

Thanks for the overbroad and unhelpful generalization, though I'm sure it feels righteous to make it. I've written for major media myself and yet here I am hoping my colleagues read and act on it.
