The recent political polarisation of Silicon Valley is really striking. 25 years ago most big tech and VC execs were moderates. Then the whole sector shifted gradually leftwards up until 2020, and now suddenly we have a sharp divide into Democrat-backers and Trump backers.
I take MASSIVE issue with this narrative's lack of distinction between conservative ideology and support of a craven lunatic who's open to bribes
Donations right are investments. Donations left are donations.
Uhm, in 2020 the majority were moderate-conservative, not moderate.
That the number of moderates is dropping so much is concerning
if you are a completely self interested tech ceo, supporting trump makes sense. he’s hostile and will target you and your company personally if he wins and you didn’t support him if harris wins and you didn’t support her, she’ll likely behave ethically roko’s basilisk but for fascism
Fascinating chart. What is driving change since 2020 which seems really large.
Silicon Valley has run out of innovative ideas in the last decade. Makes sense that they would turn towards crackpot Republican solutions.
donations aren't made in order to further a cause, donations are made to buy influence. you're looking at things all upside down, champ.
