Do I have an unstreched ruler to measure the stretched ruler with? Does for instance the speed of light change over time relative to the expansion of the universe?

I guess I'm missing a step in the explanation. More redshift means moving away faster. But how does that directly translate to distance? It could be close and move away fast, right? Do I need coffee?

That totally depends on the case. Let's say a politician or one of their associates makes an outrageous claim, then I do want to publicly shame them. I want people to know about that. If some random J. Doe makes the same claim, it might be better to have it deleted.
