I am a hybrid author, so I also have a trad publishing and also an audiobook contract (whoops, did that news just slip out of me ), and I WILL cover those topics in detail (how, when, why), but due to contract terms, won't be able to give all the financial details. 14/15

So what is the target? how will I judge success of failure in December 2024? Well, that will be the subject of my first thread on October 1st. I will lay out my sales vs cost history, income, and then where I think it needs to be by the end of next year to sustain me. 13/15

I am hoping sharing this monthly #oneyeartopro project gives me more focus, a little accountability (what AM I doing to further my career this month?), more sense of community, and perhaps some more ideas and inspiration. That is what I love about events like fantasycon. 12/15

2nd, Writing is isolating, it feels like you are rowing across the Atlantic on your own, in a giant and confusing ship. Talking to other writers who are in the same boat, and knowing what and how they are doing, makes it feel a lot more like you are rowing together. 11/15

The total transparency may seem like an odd decision, perhaps one that doesn't benefit me. But no, it benefits me, this isn't pure altruism. 1st, I hope it breeds discussion with my peers about what I'm covering, which might give me insight and ideas and help my project. 10/15

Each month I will also do a sales/costs/revenues breakdown. Advertising costs for the month, any deals/campaigns and their effectiveness, publishing costs, income etc. This will all be in a single thread at the start of the month, using the hashtag #oneyeartopro. 9/15

Each month I will cover one main topic I am working on, not as a 'how to' (although I will discuss/link guides I find useful), but just literally what I am doing on that topic to further my career, and try and analyse what is and isn't working, so I can improve it. 8/15

I'm going to need to: - write more books! (going to publish 3 next year) - improve my social media program, and focus it more. - Optimise my advertising - Expand my reach (audiobooks, hardbacks, translation) - organise my time better - Improve my skills - network more 7/15
