A new Rainey Center poll finds that youth online safety is the top tech issue for voters. 🧑‍💻️ Content moderation and "censorship" were the lowest priorities, but got plenty of airtime in the VP debate last night. h/t @katieharbath.bsky.social

A horizontal bar chart showing the most important technology issues from a recent survey of U.S. voters. "Kids safety" is the most important issue, followed closely by election integrity, privacy, and cyber attacks. The lowest-priority tech issues in the poll were disinformation, censorship and content moderation.

BREAKING: Members of Congress are for the kids. Otherwise, they are *obviously* in the pocket of Big Tech. Nuance to make sure a bill would actually help young people? Nah. Who needs that?

I've never seen such a mess like debate on the Kids Online Safety Act during a House committee markup. "Namby-pamby" name calling, concerns of "false hope" for parents, and complete disagreement on the duty of care. Normally you have that sorted out before advancing an important bill.
