Fair enough, and great films. I’m not saying modern noir isn’t noir enough or great on its own. I’m just saying that the war/post-war zeitgeist is a fundamental part of the era of noir, and the many original noir films can be best understood in their historical context. As I said, it’s academic 🤷‍♂️
