The press isn't failing you "just when we need them the most", the press is failing you always and that's why you are in this shit. And the press is failing you but certainly not the owners of the press. That's why they write how they write.
My belief is, "If nobody gets fired, then they were doing their job." The press is owned by the same oligarchs who back Trump, so when they present imbalanced, ludicrous reporting and nobody gets fired, it's because their job is to present imbalanced, ludicrous stories to support Trump.
They'd rather generate clicks on tabloid stories than have a democracy.
