Here's a professional code of conduct basic... never have a concept of friendship that winds up making you complicit in someone's predatory behavior because you think loyalty trumps having a safe community.

People struggle to understand that someone they like can have done something awful, which is understandable. What is not ok is taking that struggle and using it to allow someone to continually victimise others for decades.

Similarly, never enshrine an idea of community that implies that ignoring terrible behavior by a member of that community somehow protects that community as a whole. And as for time to "process" that a friend has engaged in widespread predatory behavior... that is some very weak tea.

It’s refreshing to see people speak out about this one. I’m a comics fan and it’s hard seeing so many writers and artists not wanting to rock the boat and just pretend there isn’t a predator in their midst whenever this happens. And it happens a LOT in comics.
