Years ago I did the science of wellbeing paper on coursera (highly recommended) and a massive takeaway for me was the reminder to consciously savour a positive experience every day. So often we get caught up in it - which is also good - but taking a moment to acknowledge it is sublime
That insight brought to you by getting to sit in a room of trans folks today laughing at shit only trans folk would laugh at. I looked around and felt at home, grateful.
Our family dinner table ritual is to take turns sharing the best part of our day, or something we are grateful for that day. On a shitty day it's not always easy, and we're also teaching our kids to acknowledge negative feelings, but practicing gratitude helps happiness poke it's head back up
