My husband has these on his Birthday list: www.oakley.com/en-us/produc...
Oh heeeeeey! I too occasionally stumble across those and cringe š¬ Iām doing good. Working for Amplify on the math curriculum team, not gardening very much due to a few set backs at the start of the season, but really stepping up my fiction reading game these days. How are you doing?
Me: Yep. How would you do 12+13? Z: 12 doubled is 24. and then add 1 and its 25. [does algorithm to check 12+13] Z: I WANNA DO BIG NUMBERS NOW Me: okay, like what? Z: 1500 +1501 [long pause] Z: 3001! It's like magic. Me: so that's why we use letters. To see patterns for later. Z: cool.

Me: so what's that look like with A Z: A+1 is 3 Me: so if we put it all together 2+3 became A+A+1 Z: THATS A DOUBLE AND ONE Me: what pattern are you seeing with that? Z There's 2 As and then you add 1. Me: uh huh. So we can use that pattern to add any next door neighbor numbers. Z: like 12 and 13

Z: I see the answers counting by 2s Me: do you think that will always happen if we add 2 numbers beside each other on the number line? Z: maaaaybe Me: let's use letters to look. Use 2+3. If we replace 2 with A how can we write that sentence? Z: A+3 Me: can we write 3 another way using 2? Z: 2+1=3
Me: That 'not wanting to think about them all' is why we use the letters. They hold the place of numbers so we can look for patterns. Z: But I don't see a pattern Me: let's look at a different sentence okay? What's 1+2? Z: 3 Me: and what's 2+3? Z: 5 Me: what's 3+4? Z: 7 Me: notice anything? Z:

Me: sometimes we use letters to generalize. It makes the math sentence work for more than just one case. Z: But I figured out the puzzle X+Y=15 is 7+8=15. Me: are 7 & 8 the only numbers that work? [Z does a lot of thinking] Z: no, There's more, but I don't want to puzzle them all out

The no bake move: Fill half way with chocolate pudding. Lay down a layer of crushed cookies, top with whipped crea . Baked idea: Bake a half recipe of blondies in the base then top with pudding and whipped cream. Going for that texture mix
Premade and needs baking or premade and should not be baked? (Clarifying question to aid in my suggestions as āhow can I use this before it goes badā is my FAVORITE way to make new recipes)
