#scbwiArtober2024 - Day 1 prompt: “whispers”. I decided to go with the idea of ancient voices whispering from beyond, and the origin of Halloween being from the ancient Celtic celebration, Samhain. They believed October was the time when the doorway between our world & the spirit world would open.
My favorite character was Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Her obstinate, lonely, angry nature made her so interesting. I love flawed characters. The way she chose anger instead of tears to deal with loneliness & grief really resonated with me as a child. #kidlitchat

Got 3 rejection emails from #illustration agents today. A personal record! I'm calling it a win. My favorite part is that a couple included links to illustration classes in their messages. As a person who spent $80K & 6 years on getting a BA in Illustration it’s always the cherry on top for me.
