Sometimes my partner and I talk about going to Iceland on a trip to see the Aurora but honestly I think I shouldn't because it will just be CLOUDS, I think it's a curse.
Like I'm all the way in fucking Vermont and I STILL can't see the northern lights because it is insane cloud cover up here.

Just want to be clear that this guy is not special! And this does not mean he is genuine! He is doing the absolute most normal thing that a lot of real assholes do when they go to prison. Just most of them are not (formerly) well off white men with their picture in the times.
I think prisons are bad and many people in them shouldn't be there, but I have also seen this phenomenon many times. It happens even when the person has had everything meticulously explained to them and when they are grateful and kind for the help their lawyer provided.
It is extremely normal for a man to suddenly and vocally insist that his lawyer gave him bad advice and he would like to withdraw his plea once it becomes time to actually serve the sentence. You absolutely cannot take this kind of rhetoric seriously.
