Great collaboration with Tim Overton's team. Big congrats to Emily, Tosin, Alex, Pauline and Sarah. This one has been a while in the works but good to see it out in the world!

Here we show that knocking out or inactivating the major efflux pump AcrB increases the membrane potential of the cell explaining why the impact of efflux loss on cellular physiology is so profound.
