My secretariat has been doing a lot to acknowledge various heritage/identity months but didnât acknowledge (or maybe even know about) National Arab-American Heritage Month. I just wish that this campaign, which is all about showing up as your whole self, didnât implicitly erase MENA identities.
The state is doing an initiative around employees self-identifying in a bunch of categories, and theyâve done a good job of updating e.g. SOGI fields, but theyâve basically left race/ethnicity as the same as itâs been for years (and with no âOtherâ category as though multi select covers all cases)
We're watching the attempted extermination of the Palestinian people, one refugee camp at a time. It's horrific that the world is doing nothing to stop this.
