also i took the amtrak to NYC once. we went over Christmas. it took 13 hours each way and cost $400 per person for a paper thin sleeper car and i'd still do it again to not deal with a) airports b) at christmas c) in new york it leaves when you go to sleep and when you wake up you're almost there

Oh cool! Val and I took the Megabus from Pittsburgh to New York once and did the same thing. It left a midnight, so we went out there, got dinner, saw a movie, got on the bus, fell asleep, and woke up in NYC. I’ve thought about taking the train out west just to do it.
