Quinctilius Varus, give me back my legions! This is a cuirass from the Teutoburg Forest battlefield, currently on display in the Legion exhibition in the British Museum.
Akrotiri is usually translated as "cape". The little space in front of the West House (shown in your first photo) is triangular, so in Greek it is called πλατεία τρίγωνου. But since in English we often use "Square" where the Greeks use πλατεία, we've ended up with the name of Triangle Square.
Nice photos! I love Akrotiri, and the display of the frescoes in the museum in Fira is stunning. I hope you saw the animations that show where the frescoes were placed inside the buildings. Finally, the English translation that gives us "Triangle Square" always makes me smile!
