I’m surprised more of these don’t have nearly-forgotten political bumper stickers like “Perot ‘92!”

Update: they being boys under 50 (?), obviously they have now set about making the display read “POOP”.

A Sunday project with the kids: controlling a 7-segment display on a Raspberry Pi using Scratch, to make a simple clock. They had moderate fun, but I had more! (This actually started on Saturday, when I secretly did all the pre-work they don't have the attention span for.) #raspberrypi

A breadboard is propped up on its side, showing a 4-digit, 7-segment display that reads "13:12" (military time for an hour and 12 minutes past noon). The board has 4 blue resistors connecting things, and about a dozen jumper wires leading back to the raspberry pi, which is behind the breadboard.
Wider shot of the breadboard showing that it's in a little cabinet under my TV, a mouse and keyboard above it. On the TV is a linux desktop running Scratch, and there's a fairly lengthy sequence of if-then's that sets the GPIO pins according to what digit the user is trying to display in what position.

This is one of my favorite accidental finds on Google Maps recently. This April, in NW Indiana, traffic ground to a halt on Grand Blvd. Why? Tortoise.

Narrow shot of same scene. A woman stands on the shoulder of the road, one fist on hip, other hand on neck, staring at the animal with an expression of exasperation. A man in an orange shirt stands in front of his jeep, which is directly blocked by the animal. There is a 4 foot long stick leaned up against the grill of his vehicle. Was he planning to prod the little fellow along?
Wide shot of scene. Cars in both directions of this road are stopped. We can't quite make out why, but on the left, two passengers have exited their car and are gazing at the ground.

A wet and eerie drive through Robbins, IL at 2am #photography#NightPhotography#illinois

We're in a car. Outside it's pitch black and raining. We've stopped at a railroad crossing. The center yellow lines are semi-visible, going from bottom left of frame toward the center/horizon. Some red lights are bokeh'ed and bleeding because of the rain on the windshield.
We're on a backroad, stopped, with our headlights illuminating the road ahead of us. A pair of streetlights illuminate the side of the road in the mid- and background. Slight lens flairs sparkle around the first streetlight. Lush grass lines both sides of the road.
We're looking head-on at a probably-abandoned abandoned house. The house is framed by a pair of probably-dead trees on either side. To the right of the house, a vehicle is parked in the shadows at the back of the driveway. Powerlines streak left-to-right above the house. The sidewalk and street are cropped out of this picture, giving the house the appearance of standing alone in a field, rather than at the end of a dead-end residential street.
This is a very dark and murky photo. The main element is a small town's water tower, which is barely visble in the dark. In the foreground, two streetlights dominate the photo because water on the lens is scattering the white lights in dramatic and chaotic ways.
