My gut says "true" I can theorize something about Americans (even well meaning ones) fetishize exoticness (sensually and/or white saviory) Or maybe a deep rooted idea that for something to be traditionally published in the US market, it has to be formulaic to a degree higher than other markets.

What I like the most about translating my own culture/language into English is realizing things about it that I had never thought twice about. It's fucking fascinating and I have no idea how to best explain it.

One funny thing about them choosing Mozart is that Wolfgang's sister Nannerl was also a famous prodigy who toured until she reached marriageable age. For as long as she shared his circumstances, she blossomed too. There's always been ample evidence that talent is not rare, but economic support is.
