This is one reason I equipped all our manual NMR spectrometers with autosamplers in our big renovation. All 6 can be operated from the floor - no stairs. Did you know the SampleCase can be installed at “ADA height” for free when new?

I think many disability accommodations need to be provided *before* anyone has to ask. E.g., every time a lab gets renovated is an opportunity to install accessible hoods and benches. This way, people can get to work asap instead of negotiating accommodations.

“Model” is one with which I have special beef. A cardiac physiologist I worked with insisted a model MUST involve differential equations. But doing structural biology, a model can be “how a protein changes shape or dynamics to bind a ligand - no math.

I also have two old Oxford magnets to give away for non-spectroscopy creative purposes. Probably best for cutaway magnet displays, would be fun material for a creative welder. Not bringing to #CANMRDG#nmr#nmrchat

Two 1980s-vintage Oxford NMR magnets on pallets, ready to be picked up by anyone who shows up with a truck to take them

Asshole tech bros think their personal financial success means they have license to pollute the air that belongs to everyone. They’re not “renegades”, they’re surely criminals breaking environmental laws

@sandersays.bsky.social , like this one? It’s been a “just in case” part for us, but we don’t really have much use for it any more. Connects ball joint to 8mm tubing.Email me at jkurutz at UChicago if you’d like it.

Aluminum fitting to connect a ball joint on a Bruker nmr probe to 8mm tubing via a hose barb. Side view with ruler showing ~3cm total length
