The latest FBI data confirm that crime in the U.S. decreased significantly in 2023. The number of murders dropped 13 percent from the previous year. Pretty much every category of crime decreased in pretty much every part of the country (the exception being car thefts).

Art is underutilized in sociological education. A counterexample: used Rene Treviño’s exhibit @ Wellin Museum to provoke questions of what art is, how to interpret it w/a sociological imagination rooted in the artist’s life, colonial Mexican & American history, & how the queering & joy lift it up
