I would just like to declare my status as apparently the only person in the world who did not see an aurora last night...

Not that I’d expect to hear rumours about #Budget2024, but I’ve not heard rumours of “increased funding for the ARC”, as recommended in the Universities Accord report. Anything less than a ~50% increase would basically still be a cut from 10 years ago. Needs *at least* doubling!

Anyone else see this weird 'red-bow' last night in nth Canberra? Was just on sunset and apart from being mainly red-tinged also seemed more round than normal! I assume its b/c the light was coming in at a very low angle!

This is a good first step. Now we must do something about Job-Ready - which significantly added to the HESC debt of many, failed spectacularly to push students to study particular degrees, and significantly underfunded STEM in Australian universities. www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05...

HECS changes to see $3 billion in student debt 'wiped out'

Millions of Australians with student loans will have hundreds of dollars wiped from their HECS debts as the federal government rolls out its plans for cost-of-living relief in the upcoming budget.
