UNHCR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees) = refugees generally UNRWA (UN Relief and Works Agency) = a complicated legacy definition but basically people in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, or Syria who were displaced or descended from people displaced in ‘48 and ‘67, except Jews.

So the 600 thousand or so Jewish refugees from the Middle East and North Africa would fall under UNHCR, not the UNRWA? Also… why? Why does this one group get its own agency?
