I wonder when all the ethical journalists will leave the @washingtonpost.com@nytimes.com? Seems like an excellent opportunity for a new national media outlet (to attract all that talent) which supports ethical journalism. I would certainly subscribe....
I'm not well informed about Noah Smith - I know a lot of people hate him, I just don't really have an opinion - but at least I don't think so little of him as that WaPo editor did.

I think Smith is confusing the concepts of “steelmanning” and “gaslighting”
Really wish they'd start naming names on these things. People won't take their responsibility to the public seriously until there is accountability. If they want Trump covered in a certain way, they should have the courage to put their name on it.
