Their decisions don't make sense for that imo. If they wanted to control the narrative, they would have made Threads a carbon copy of Twitter to entrap/please the exiles who wanted Twitter back while catering to the Instagram casuals who just use Meta products.

They didn't. What they did instead was alter the algo to go after accounts left of center. I mean they literally showed they could a year ago when they had attempted to root out hard nazi accounts and the butthurt Trumpers whined and they backed off. That underscores THEY CAN AND ARE doing that now!
