Here is a map I made recently of Krasner v Vega in 2021. Green precincts voted for Krasner, red for Vega. Black dots? Gun data from the GVA. The pattern is clear: where gun violence is high, ppl voted for Krasner.

Now, to preempt the inevitable “of course criminals vote for soft on crime types!”, (1) “criminals” isn’t a real category, (2) contact w the crim legal system REDUCES civic engagement like voting, and (3) the population math doesn’t work there (big % crimes committed by small % of ppl).

The big irony here is that if this sticks, which CAN NOT happen -- as a Philadelphian I am LIVID -- Krasner's office will only have jurisdiction in parts of Philly that voted against him. The north east is a bit more suburban and transit is sparser out there.
