1. Move the Court to rural Kansas. Dent them easy access to the elites whose patronage and adulation they crave. (See Trump and the USDA.) 2. Put the Court in a strip mall: no prestigious chambers (strikes as political aura). 3. Set the clerkship budget to zero, so they have no assistance.
I am not sarcastic about a single one of these. And Art III only protects the justice’s salary, nothing else. They’ve obviously whine abt it and say it meant to protect their perks too, but we can just ignore their mewling abt that.
The thing is, if you have the will to do this, you can do other, more efficacious stuff instead (pack the goddamn Court)
No rocking, reclining, snoozing or spinning in the big chairs. You are on the clock.
Yes. The building is a big part of their mystique and soft power (as Taft knew, which is why he pushed for the fancy building a century ago) and we should take it away from them. bsky.app/profile/mark...
I live in the same rural Kansas town that produced "senator moron" with an infusion of Koch cash. Also, the USDA move was done with the full support of the Kansas congressional delegation and their backers. Going to have to find someplace more remote.
Not Kansas. Move it to Flint, Mich. Or East Palestine, Ohio. Or La Salle, Ill. Let them experience firsthand what happens when you hobble regulatory agencies.
13 circuits, 13 justices.
Why should Kansas get everything??
Great idea!
Don’t reduce clerkship budget to zero. That would further limit clerks to wealthy who can afford to volunteer. Choose clerks by lottery, or somehow bring clerks from a range of law schools.
